The Giving Pot is a collection of money that is passed from friend to friend. Each Giving Pot has a specific name with a dollar amount in its title. This dollar amount represents the amount of money that must always be maintained in the pot. When someone sends you a Giving Pot, you are encouraged to use any excess funds on someone else in need. You may also choose to donate more into the pot. The final step is to then pass what is left in your Giving Pot to another friend whom you trust is responsible and has a giving heart. And that's it! You've successfully passed along the Giving Pot!
Refer to the Chart and FAQs below for more clarification.
Q: When sending the Giving Pot to someone else, what information do I tell them?
A: Be sure to copy and paste the same message that was sent to you when you initially received the Giving Pot. This information should include the exact name of the Giving Pot you are sending, along with the required amount listed in the title, and the name of this website www.thegivingpotofblessings.com so they can refer to it for further instruction.
Q: Who do I send the Giving Pot to?
A: You are only sending this Giving Pot to another GIVER — not to the person in need. You use your own funds to give to the person in need and then replenish what you gave by taking from the pot for yourself OR you can choose to not reimburse yourself from the pot (and even donate more into it) before sending it off to the next giver.
Q: How do I determine the amount of excess funds in the Giving Pot that was sent to me?
A: You can determine the amount of excess funds in a Giving Pot by taking the amount that was sent to you and subtracting the minimum amount required for the pot. This minimum amount is listed in the name of the Giving Pot. For example, let's say someone sent you "The Sourdough Giving Pot $110" with a total of $350 in the pot. That specific Giving Pot has a required amount of $110 which must be maintained at all times. Therefore to determine the excess funds you would do $350 - $110 = $240. Therefore, you can use up to $240 on someone else in need.
Q: What if I cannot make a donation and/or use the excess money on someone in need?
A: You can skip Step 2 completely and simply send the Giving Pot to another giver without donating or using any funds on someone in need. Either way you are still giving by passing along the Giving Pot!
Q: What form of money do I need to use when sending the Giving Pot to someone else?
A: You may send the money to the next giver through any method of choice-- whether it be physical, such as cash or check, or electronic such as via a cash app like paypal, venmo, etc..
Q: Can I send the Giving Pot to more than one person?
A: You can create multiple Giving Pots and send them off to more than one person. Just make sure they each have the minimum amount defined by the rules of the particular pot you want to use. You can see the different Giving Pots in circulation by clicking here.
